A note from our founder:
I’ve been where you are. Yet I come to college admissions counseling from perhaps a different perspective.
A long time ago, I was the excited high school student applying to multiple Ivy League universities. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard University, I spent the first 20+ years of my professional life as a successful strategy/ marketing/ branding consultant, working with global leaders such as Procter and Gamble, LensCrafters, Heineken, and many others. From that perspective, I learned how to determine what really drives a competitive landscape, and how to make strategy and branding choices that build winning product and business positions.
I learned about highly selective college admissions as a consultant to two Ivy League universities and as an admissions interviewer for a third Ivy League university. From those contexts I learned how holistic admissions processes actually work, and how they’re structured to create an incoming class that reflects that specific college’s mission and priorities.
Then I guided my three daughters on their educational journeys through public and private schools, summer programs, extracurricular activities, and college applications. I realized that the combination of my strategy perspective and admissions knowledge helped them identify choices that fit their individual strengths and interests, encouraged them to stand out from the crowd, and helped them communicate their “unique brand” in compelling applications. While I knew they’d be attractive admissions candidates – and all 3 were admitted to the most selective universities such as Harvard, Stanford, and Princeton – I nevertheless became the nervous parent hoping for the “good” email.
I also watched friends and family struggle through the process, often following flawed “conventional wisdom” while making poor choices that resulted in fewer acceptances than they had hoped for. I saw the frustration, the bitterness, and just how stressful the admissions process can be for students and families alike.
Friends and neighbors began asking me to help guide them and their children through the college admissions process, and when that snowballed into calls from friends-of-friends I became fully invested in helping other students and families successfully navigate the process of highly selective college admissions. I am excited to help those I work with to get into highly selective colleges which are also great fits for who they are and where they are heading. It is also extremely rewarding to make this process a catalyst for them to develop life-long skills which will help them well beyond college – such as identifying their skills, values, interests and passions, pursuing them with an eye towards excellence, and concisely and effectively conveying their personal stories.
I appreciate the trust of families who invite me to be a part of their journey. That’s why I’m personally involved in advising all of our clients, and we limit the number of clients we work with so all of them get the attention they need.
