Athletes

Many candidates are successful high school athletes.  It is essential to realistically consider how your athletic abilities overlay with your college goals.   If you are potentially a recruited athlete at a particular set of colleges, a completely different process needs to be pursued, which starts far earlier in high school than the normal junior/senior year application process.

In addition, some very accomplished high school athletes might be considered as a recruited athlete at college A, a walk-on at college B, a club-team athlete at college C, and an intramural athlete at college D.  These applicants need to carefully adapt their approach to each of those situations.

For colleges where you are not likely to be considered a recruited athlete, it is still very important to make wise choices about how you communicate your athletic endeavors.  Are you likely to contribute those skills at that college – perhaps as a varsity walk-on or on a club team?  What did you get out of your sport(s) that reflects on your character and personal growth?  We help you think through how to best communicate what you offer and how sports have shaped who you are.

The additional considerations for athletes are in addition to the issues listed on our pages for those in Grades 8-10 and Grades 11-12.

We can help you make smart, strategic choices and navigate this process successfully!
